Habits to Fight Depression

I’m in the last couple weeks of my pregnancy and for me pregnancy usually means I deal with depression. I deal with it while I’m pregnant. I deal with it in postpartum. I deal with it if I have a miscarriage.

In this, I’ve found three things that help me get a grip on it and get my feet back on solid ground to move forward a little bit. That’s what I want to share with you.

Before I go into these, if you are feeling depressed and you’re questioning your value – go talk to someone. I know in the depths of depression it’s really easy to tell yourself no one cares – that’s the depression talking. Get an appointment with a doctor and move from there.

If you are feeling suicidal and you need to talk to someone immediately – please call the Suicide Prevention Lifeline. 1-800-273-8255

  1. Write 3 Things You’re Grateful for
  2. List the Things Unsettling You
  3. List What You Have Accomplished or Like About Yourself

For the research behind these three habits and why this works – check out this episode of the podcast on your iPhone, the Stitcher App or Mail Tribune’s website. You can also press the play button at the top of the page.
