We decided to throw a gender reveal party to celebrate our newest addition. The poor third child can get a little left behind when it comes to excitement for its arrival.
We didn’t want to leave baby #3 out.
I was feeling the pressure to come up with an original theme, since my last reveal party went viral on Pinterest (check it out here!) and dozens of people have done it since I originally posted.
That’s when I went to my roots – countless hours in my Grandma’s den playing Super Mario Bros.
The theme was perfect – two “super brothers” (shirts courtesy of Krystal’s Krafty Creations) and location in beautiful Jacksonville, Oregon (for info on rentals for weddings and other events – go here).
The theme was “Player 3 Has Joined the Game” – Yoshi for boy, Princess Peach for girl. (note: I understand Yoshi is gender-neutral and not all girls like princesses, but this was way more about gathering with friends than sending any political message or gender stereotypes – our baby can like any color or character it wants!)
Like the bonafide Nintendo-nerd that I am – we had lots of Mario-themed treats including star Cheetos, question mark block Rice Krispies and Yoshi-egg cake pops.
The main event of course – was two super bros. up-jumping a question mark box.
And the big reveal…
Our Mario was so excited, the Luigi is going to need some time – he’s trying to change “everything blue.”
