With the new year coming up, I’ve been thinking a lot about resolutions. Every year we promise ourselves we’ll be better when the clock strikes midnight on December 31st.

It’s the new year and this time we’re going to really be who we want to be – finally. We’re going to eat well, exercise, be better parents, spouses, employees. We’re going to love ourselves and those around us. Our budgeting is going to take a 180. Oh, and we’ll do it at our goal weight.

THEN and only then, will we be worthy of love. THEN we will be worthy.

Right?

NOT.

I talked to Lu Crenshaw and Shantell Dayton, co-founders of Camp 17. It’s a fitness class combining exercise and soul work. It’s body, mind and spirit.

You may think you need to lose just 5 pounds to be where you’re okay, where you can be loved, where you are finally worthy. You may think you need more in the bank. You may think you need just one more promotion. You don’t. You are good, right now.

Lu said, “You are enough right now to be loved. You don’t need to do anything to be loved. You are worthy of love, right now.”

Between the two of them, they have 30 years of experience coaching and mentoring women in fitness. Shantell said when you struggle in a workout, you are practicing the skills you need for real life.
